How Better Systems Are Helping Me Scale My Rent-to-Own Real Estate Business

Building Better Systems Behind the Deals

When people think about real estate investing, they usually think about buying properties.

That wasn't my June.

Most of this month was spent building the business behind the business.

It's not the kind of work that gets a lot of attention, but it's the work that makes everything else run better.

AI Is Just Another Tool

Everyone seems to be talking about AI lately.

Some people think it's going to replace business owners. I don't.

For me, it's just another tool.

I still have to decide what I'm building and why I'm building it. AI just helps me get there faster.

One of the bigger projects this month was putting together an operating system for my business. Now my contacts, projects, deals, notes, and processes all live in one place.

A year ago, something like that would've taken a lot more time and money. Today, it's possible if you're willing to learn and put in the work.

Looking Back at Three Years of Data

I also spent time going through more than three years of Rent-To-Own data.

Thousands of leads.

Hundreds of consultations.

Hundreds of conversations.

I wasn't looking for a number to brag about. I wanted to understand the people reaching out to us.

The more I looked, the more one thing stood out.

Most of these families are doing a lot of things right.

They have jobs.

They pay their bills.

They've saved money.

Something in life just made the traditional mortgage route harder than it should be.

That's why I started this business in the first place.

The data also pointed out places where I could improve my own process. That's just as valuable. There's always something to learn if you're willing to look for it.

Building Better Systems.

Another thing I've noticed lately is that a lot of business owners aren't short on opportunity.

They're short on systems.

As things grow, so do the moving parts. More leads. More follow-up. More conversations.

Without good systems, everything gets harder.

That's been a big focus for me this year.

Not working more hours.

Building things that make the business run better.

A Few Projects Finally Went Live

I'm happy to say a few projects I've been working on are finally finished.

The first is a knowledge database built from years of conversations with Rent-To-Own clients. Every question and every objection now lives in one place, making it easier to give people better answers.

I also launched a Partner Portal, giving my investment partners a simple way to access the information they need.

And finally, I rolled out a client portal for our tenant-buyers so they can track their progress throughout the program.

None of these projects are flashy.

But they'll make the experience better for the people I work with, and that's what matters.

A Good Conversation Beats a Good Presentation

Another highlight this month was speaking at the Mogul Realty Group Mastermind.

I always enjoy getting into a room with other investors.

The presentation is one part of it.

The conversations afterward are usually the best part.

Everyone's working through different challenges, and it's always interesting hearing what's working for other people.

Looking Ahead

I'm excited about where things are heading.

Not because of one deal or one project.

Because the foundation keeps getting stronger.

Every system I build frees up more time to focus on what matters most, helping more families become homeowners and giving my investment partners a better experience along the way.
